Pastel Easter Table

Easter Sunday is a wonderful celebration of New Life!
This year I set the Easter Dinner table in pastels,
because I had bought this pastel plaid tablecloth and napkins for a steal last year after Easter.
I needed to set those pastel plates off on something and was having a hard time finding just the right placemats.  So I made these 6 placemats from a yard and a half of colored burlap fabric from Joann's.  They cost me a total of $4.49- so a great way to add color to a table without spending a lot!
Soft colored candles on white pedestals along with some egg filled cloches were used for a centerpiece.
I found these bunny napkin rings at Pat Catan's the week before Easter for 50% off, so for $1.49 each I just couldn't pass them up.
Along with their companion bunny treat dishes which were only $2.50 each.
Heck, these cute little cupcakes were more than the napkin rings and they were scarfed down in no time!
We had a wonderful Easter.  Everyone was home.  The house was full.  My heart was as well!

Easter Table

This is my Prelude to Easter - since I am observing Lent this table is more of a lead in to Easter.
Not a lot of frills and flowers, those will come on Easter Sunday.  I don't think I can call the colors exactly subdued, but I wanted to do more of a simple table before Easter.
With a Cross centerpiece to remind us of what Easter is really about.

The bird nests are signs of what is coming.

The bunny cloche is what started this whole table.
I fell in love with these when I saw them.
and of course had to have the little matching lamb cover dish.
I like that I  didn't even have to do any color enhancing to get this sort of aqua blue to pop!!
I hope your Easter preparations are going well.

New Table!

I am so excited to introduce you to my new kitchen table!
We had our old table and chairs for approximately 27 years!
(This Cinco de Mayo table from last year shows my old table)

There were a lot of meals eaten and home work done at that old table.   Considering all it had been through it was still in pretty good shape, frankly, I was just growing tired of it.  I was ready to move on, since everyone is all grown up I felt we could up grade to something other than a laminate top!

This table has a planked planed wood top and just a bit of distressing on the off white finish.  I decided to get two all white chairs and four chairs with the wood stained seats, just to mix it up a bit.
I love the double pedestal base!
I justified my purchase by creating this table to match the hutch I bought last year that is in the dining room.  That way when the time comes to down size - we can use the two pieces together!  Yep - my husband bought into that thinking!

Both pieces were custom made at Swiss Valley Furniture in Sugarcreek, Ohio.
I highly recommend this place!  The guys are great to work with and the quality of their work is
wonderful.
I am looking forward to setting some great tables on this beautiful wood top!

Now don't feel bad about my old table- it is staying in the family-just getting passed down to one of the boys, where I think that laminate top will be perfect!

Signs of Spring Tablescape

Finally!! We are seeing signs of spring around here!!
Little bits of green are starting to pop up.
I think we have gone four days now without any snow!
Spring has finally sprung in Ohio.
So it is time to get out the bunnies and birds nests.
I enjoy hearing the birds chirp outside our window in the morning.
We have several bunnies making our yard their home despite our dog who is on constant watch for anything that moves. All the birds and bunnies are pretty wise to the fact that our dog is so laid back
that she would not hurt a flea!
When the sun finally shows through the windows, you can see all the nose prints the dog has made while checking out any activity in the yard outside.

So now it's time for me to clean my nest!  There is something kind of therapeutic about Spring Cleaning.  I hope things are starting to bloom around you!
