Christmas Plaids Tablescape

Merry Christmas!
Of course with a name like Corner of Plaid and Paisley - you have to know that I am partial to plaids. Buffalo Checks are one of my cold weather favorites so I set a table full of plaids, checks, and Christmas evergreens.
Plaids remind me of warmth and comfort, which seems to go hand and hand with the feelings of Christmas spent with family.

I added a few lantern for more warmth!  Which would be optimal if it wasn't the warmest Christmas season we have ever experienced in here in Northeast Ohio!
I used some greenery as my chargers,
and a simple burlap placemat that goes with the burlap bail on the mini tree.
The goblets remind me of snow flurries even though they are more of a vine pattern.

I hope you all have a warm, comforting time with family and friends as you celebrate this Christmas  or Hanukkah Season.

Thanksgiving Table - Where Pilgrims and Glitter Meet!

We have a lot to be thankful for this year so we will be enjoying our Thanksgiving festivities next week.  I put a little modern twist on this year's Thanksgiving table:

I just get the sense that if the Pilgrims had traded for a bottle of glitter - that this may have been more what Thanksgiving would have looked like!
Of course I take the literal impression of a pilgrim with the white and black crisp clean outfits, as we know is not really historically correct.
Alternating white and black napkins at each place setting, the are set with nice wide gold napkin rings that reminded me of the big Pilgrim buckles.
As I placed the eat, drink and be thankful dessert plates on top of the star rimmed dinner plates, I couldn't help but think that we have a lot more to thank than just our lucky stars.  A lot of hard work, caring and praying goes into our days, and we are thankful for what the Good Lord has blessed us with.
A black lantern and some scattered gold pumpkins and gourds make the simple centerpiece.  I only had four of the plates with the wording on them, so when I found the gold dotted dessert plates I figured they would fill in nicely for the other two place settings.
My photos are not really good enough to show the wording on the glasses but they have beautiful gold lettering expressing phrases such as Give Thanks, Joy, and Blessed.  They are the perfect glasses to toast from as we gather to give thanks.  The gold tipped feathers I found in Target's Christmas ornaments this year - but they just seemed to fit into my Thanksgiving better than Christmas!

I am sharing this photo on Instagram - it is part of a promotion from Unilever. Each time individuals engage with the has tag #ShareAMeal, Unilver will donate one meal to Feeding America.  See more information at this link - Unilever #ShareAMeal Promotion

I hope you all have a Wonderful Thanksgiving full of sparkle!

Welcome Fall Color

Fall is my favorite season and I welcome it with open arms and a sweatshirt!
Along with the nip in the air comes all of the beautiful fall color this time of year.
Autumn is the true benefit of living in Ohio.
I have not been posting much lately but I just could not let this season go by without doing a fall table.
We grew some of these gourds in our garden this year!
I added a little favor by wrapping some chocolates in fall papers and adding a few die cut leaves, topping it all off with a bright orange organza bow with a strand of jute.
These leaf and acorn dishes where one of my first big dish purchases and are still one of my favorites.
I hope your fall has been as beautiful as ours has been here in Ohio.
Hopefully this will get me kick started to post a few more tables before the end of the year!

Thanks for stopping by.

Summer Daisy Table

Lazy daisy days of summer are here!
There is nothing more cheerful than a pitcher full of daisies!
I matched up my daisies with some pale yellow paisley and white compliments.
Just using some yellow tulle tied in a bow for napkin rings, I tucked in a few blooms.

What a simple table for summer!
I hope your summer is going well.

Happy Fourth of July!

Happy Fourth of July!
We are ready to celebrate Independence Day this weekend.
We have the table adorned with red, white and blue.
The flags and sparklers are ready.
I added a little fireworks inspired flair to the napkin rings and a little ribbon to the lanterns.

I attached all of the ribbon to the jars holding the sparklers and the lanterns - plus the paper embellishments to the napkin rings with removable glue dots.  This way the stars and stripes can be removed easily and the items can be used for another occasion.  Warning - it did take quire a few dots to get everything stuck down and I am not sure if they would hold in extreme heat.  We have been having some cooler, rainy weather here in Ohio.

So rainy that I have twice tried to do a table setting outside - got it all set up, then the clouds rolled in  fast and had to take everything in before I got any photos!
Hopefully all the rain came in the last two weeks and we will have a nice sunny weekend to celebrate our wonderful Nation's birthday.
I hope you have a fabulous fourth!

Cinco de Mayo Table- Hot Centerpiece!

Happy Cinco de Mayo!!  Let's have some fun!
Time for some intense color.
Speaking of intense, I decided to turn up the heat a bit on the centerpiece.
With heat from my sun and many peppers
This was one of the easiest and cheapest centerpieces I have ever made.  I cut the sun shape out of a piece of gold card stock using my Silhouette and just glued it to a bamboo skewer.  While I was at the grocery store I found this little bag of mini sweet peppers for $3.56 , much cheaper and more fun than any flowers I could find.
So I skewered up my mini peppers and used some small ferns I had as filler.  I rarely have any florist oasis - so I usually resort to a Styrofoam cup.  It worked perfectly fitting down in side my pitcher to hold all of the pepper skewers
This all made for a hot looking centerpiece that is easy, inexpensive and edible!
(Well at least the peppers and the mangoes)
Now we just needed a beverage to cool us off.  As you may have noticed in the past - I pick my beverages - not necessarily by taste - but by color to go with the table.  My guys will test out the beverages and let me know if they are any good,
So adios for now, I hope you all have a festive Cinco de Mayo.

Lucky Winner - Pink and Green Table

I was the very excited winner of a beautiful centerpiece from a local establishment!!  I don't want to call it a florist because this place is way more than a floral shop.  It is one of the most creative, artistic places that a girl could go. . . now called Paper Twigs in Canton, Ohio.  So I created this Pink and Green Tablescape around my gorgeous centerpiece.
The owner, Laura, started her business as a premier paper and invitation destination called Paper Allure and has now branched out (no pun intended!) to include florals hence the name change to Paper Twigs.
Laura and her staff do beautiful custom work for just about any occasion.
Right now they are busy with wedding season. That is how I first came upon this beautiful little shop, they did my daughter's wedding invitations when we were looking for something very different from everything that was out there. If you want to see some gorgeous and unique invitations and florals - look them up at http://paperallure.com
I pulled out some my most feminine plates with the rose and lace pattern to use with this beautiful centerpiece. And of course, the pearl napkin rings for another delicate touch.
Sometimes it's fun to just pretty up your table for no real reason!

Thanks for stopping by!

Just in Time for Easter!

Is the Easter Bunny visiting your home this weekend?  Well I have enough bunnies on my Easter Table this year, for some reason the bunnies spoke to me this year!
I think it started with these placemats that were calling my name in HomeGoods!
and the table just kind of fell in place around the placemats
I dug out my bunny napkin rings, after all if you own some bunny napkin rings - this is the weekend to use them!
I really wanted some little white Easter Baskets but I didn't want to go out and buy anything else.
so I made up these little bunny treat bags with some of my stash in my Craft Room
Even though I have been known to have a stash of chocolate - these bunny candies were not in my stash in my craft room!!   I bought them a couple days ago and have managed not to eat them before putting together this table!
We are actually having Easter Dinner at my mother's house, but I like to get my house in the mood since all of the kids will crash here Saturday. Although all of this will probably be moved a side for a family game night!  We love to play games when we are all back together again.
Wishing you and your family a blessed and joyous Easter!
