Ohio State Buckeyes Table

Tonight is the first Ohio State Football game of the season!  We Buckeyes love our football!
So I put together a quick table for some football action fun tonight.
The plain stack of scarlet and grey, black and white plates need a little pizazz.
So I purchased an OSU logo package on Etsy for $3.00 and downloaded the designs to my computer.
I printed these out on card stock, cut them out with my Silhouette and just placed the larger round logo under my glass plates.  That was an economical way to jazz up place setting.
If you don't recognize the guy I used on my napkin ring - that is Brutus Buckeye the Ohio State Mascot!
I have to thank my neighbor, Bill, for providing me with some real buckeyes!!
Buckeye trees are Ohio's state tree. The nut it produces is actually poisonous, it got its name because it resembles the eye of a deer.
So yes, our Mascot is an odd little guy that is fashioned after a poisonous nut!!
But we still love him!
So to all you Buckeye Fans out there O-H. . . .
Here's to a fun and safe football season no matter what team you are rooting for!

Thanks for stopping by!
Ann

Back to School Tablescape

School comes much to quickly anymore,  it's Back to School before summer is over!
The school year means a lot to us because all of our children work in a school system.
Our two boys (who are grown men now, but will always be my boys!) are teachers.
Shawn is a middle school science teacher and Thomas is a high school government and history teacher.
Our soon-to-be daughter in-law, Jenna is a pre-school teacher which is run through the school as a head start program.  She works with the real little ones!
Allie, our daughter, is a physical therapist who
works in the schools with children that need some special assistance.
The chalk board above is for the girls, more in line with their students.
The chalk board on the reverse side is for the guys.
They have to handle things quite differently - it says:
If you didn't do your homework, just admit it and get it done.
I love hearing their teaching stories.  I also loved the fact that three out of the four had the summer off so they could come and visit us at the lake this summer.
As our clock says - they are welcome to come and get some R&R at the lake anytime!
But it is back to school for all of them now.

I hope those of you who do have children in school have a nice start to their school year.  And for all you teachers out there, know that you are greatly appreciated by so many.

Thanks for stopping by!

Luau Fun!

We had some Luau fun this weekend,
so I thought I would get in the spirit with a Luau Tablescape.
My wonderful next-door neighbor, Patsy, let me cut a few of her flowers off her bushes for my colorful centerpiece.
I added the real flowers to one of the fake napkin rings and you can hardly tell!
Our lake ski club holds an annual Luau at the beach as a fundraiser. Having never been to Hawaii,  I enjoyed our little version.
There was some ceremonial Luau activities, as well as dancing and lots of contests. We participated in the Decorate Your Golf Cart Contest!
We made our own little traveling tiki hut,
complete with a coral reef on the back!
There we are- off to the beach to have some fun.
Surprisingly it made it there in one piece and took home 1st place!!

I snapped a photo with my phone that night as the sun was setting- it was hard to believe that we were just on our little beach when you look at this photo!
no editing done to it - just a beautiful sunset on a fun summer night!
Aloha!

Sunflowers Make us Smile!

Sunflowers are just one of those things that will make so many of us smile!
On the other hand, bees are something that can be very pesky, even though they are a vital part of our environment.
I kind of look at it as sweet and sour.
You can't really have one without the other!
We have been following the sun just like the sunflowers!
We have seen quite a few bees around here.
Unfortunately most of them are the wood boring bees and I am not sure that they
are the kind we want to see!
I hope your summer has been sunny and bright!

Thanks for stopping by,
Ann
